#FirstGenDocsFeature: Meet Tomi Ifelayo!

“My name, Oluwatomilona, in the Yoruba language means “God shows me the way.” That is the only explanation for how I ended up here. I am proud to be the first one in my family to attend medical school abroad. If you had told my parents that their child would end up at a top medical school when we were in Nigeria, they would have laughed in your face. I actually wasn’t interested in medicine at first but God convinced me otherwise!”

Tomi is a second year medical student at Mayo Clinic Alix School of Medicine. You can read more about her journey to medical school, Here.
