#FirstGenDocs Meet Dr. Tiffany Montgomery!

“I’m the oldest of two girls born into a working class family. I went to college wanting to become a certified nurse midwife and was disappointed that I had no Black professors other than those in the African-American Studies department. That was all the encouragement I needed to change my career goal to nursing education. Since graduating with my BSN in 2005, I’ve earned my MSN, and PhD; I’m currently one discussion section away from completing my master’s thesis in health policy research.

I’m living my dream as a first-year Assistant Professor of Nursing in the Philadelphia metro-area and working to increase the recruitment and retention of diverse pre-license and graduate nursing students”.

Tiffany M. Montgomery, PhD, RNC-OB, C-EFM
Assistant Professor
