#FirstGenDocs Meet Sammie Marshall!

Samantha Marshall was the first in her entire extended family to graduate from college (except for her twin sister—they did it together). She ran track and cross country in undergrad, while completing a double major and graduating with a B.S.E. in mathematics. After teaching high school mathematics and computer science, she began a Ph.D. program at Vanderbilt University, to study teacher learning.

Her research interests lie at the intersection of mathematics education, justice, and teacher learning. Her work with Indigenous education has been published in Journal of Educational Foundations, practitioner-facing work has been published in Journal of Teacher Action Research, and work on mathematics is forthcoming in The Mathematics Enthusiast.
